Saving Mother Earth
Earth Hour

"Saving Mother Earth"

There was a beautiful planet called Earth. But Mother Earth was getting very sick.

The star fairy came down and asked Mother Earth what's wrong with her.

Mother Earth said, "I've got a terrible fever and now the ice is melting. Lots of animals such as Polar Bears have nowhere to live. I'm feeling sick and sad."

The fairy asked Mother Earth, "Can I help you?"
Mother Earth replied to the fairy, "Would you mind asking the humans to reduce rubbish and save power and water? It will help me with my high temperature."

The fairy promised Mother Earth to send her message to the Humans.

The fairy asked a man, "Could you reduce rubbish, save power and water for Mother Earth?"
"I will try, but I don't think one person's effort will make any difference." he replied.

The fairy found another person and asked the same thing.
"I will do it and I will ask my friends to do it too." she answered.

She told her friends and her friends told their friends, and they told their friends and so on.
Finally many millions of people on earth decided to take an action to save Mother Earth.

Eventually, Leon and his family heard the message and asked their friends to join in.

The fairy was very happy to see people changing and was also happy to know that people now realized that together they can make difference.

Mother Earth thanked the fairy and people for saving her life.

It will take many years of people working together to help heal Mother Earth and make her happy again.

Thank you for everybody for participating in Earth Hour.

The first Earth Hour was started in Sydney 2 years ago and last year we celebrated our first Earth Hour together.
Thank you to the people who are participating this event two years in a row, and welcome to the people who are joining in for the first time.

Starting in one city in 2007, it has become a global movement in 2008. Over 50 million people and 40 cities joined in last year's event.
The organiser, WWF( World Wildlife Fund) is aiming for one billion people in 1000 cities this year.
How quickly this event is growing is evidence of how together we can make difference - each person can contribute to make difference.
After this event, I would like each of you to think about how we can save our resources.

Now, I would like to introduce some of our beautiful and talented kids to play beautiful music and see why it is important to protect the future for our children through this music.
